Point Defense Mode: What It Means for Your Tournament Scores

Point Defense is a feature in ESCS Races that changes how your scores are calculated across multiple tournaments. It’s designed to focus on your most recent performances rather than your past results.
How Point Defense Works
The Basics:
Each tournament series has a mod parameter (a number) that determines how many recent tournaments are included in your score. For example:- If mod = 5, only your points from the last 5 tournaments in the series will count.
Your Latest Performance Matters:
If you’ve played in the same tournament multiple times (in different cycles), only your most recent score is counted. Older scores from the same tournament are replaced.
An Example in Action
Imagine there’s a Race with 10 tournaments, and mod = 5.
- Points from the first 5 tournaments are ignored.
- Only the last 5 tournaments count toward your total score.
If you missed a tournament or scored 0 points, that’s fine — it simply doesn’t contribute to your final score.
Customizing the Rules with Last Tournaments Count
Organizers can add another layer of rules with Last Tournaments Count. Here’s how it works:
- If Last Tournaments Count = 3, only the 3 most recent tournaments (within the mod limit) are considered for scoring.
- If there have been fewer tournaments than the specified count, all available tournaments are included.
Why It’s Useful
- Fairer Scores: This system ensures that your most recent efforts have the biggest impact, rewarding players who consistently perform well.
- Less Pressure: If you had a bad result earlier or missed a tournament, you still have a chance to climb the leaderboard by doing well in later tournaments.
