The escs platform offers developers to add a race to their tournaments. A race is a competition where participants strive to secure the top position based on the number of points they accumulate. Each match within the tournament contributes to a player’s point total. The objective is clear: gather the most points to claim first place. This feature allows players to compete to achieve the most victories across multiple tournaments. Here’s a detailed guide on how to set up and use the race feature effectively:

To add a race, open the page for your application on the escs website and select the “Race” tab. Let’s go through each option in detail:

  • Name: Enter a unique and descriptive name for your race. This name will be visible to players.
  • Description: Provide a brief description of the race. Explain the goals, rules, and any important details players need to know. This helps players understand what they are competing for and how they can succeed.
  • Tournament Win Points: Set the number of points a player earns for winning a tournament. This is the primary metric for the race, rewarding players who achieve first place in individual tournaments.
  • Tournament Points Multiplier: If you want to add more complexity, you can use a multiplier to adjust the points awarded for tournament wins. This can help scale the points based on the importance or difficulty of the tournament.
  • Tournament Participation Points: Encourage participation by awarding points to players just for entering a tournament. This can motivate more players to join and compete, even if they don’t win.
  • Additional Placement Points: Award extra points for players who finish in the top positions (e.g., 2nd or 3rd place). This helps recognize and reward consistent high performers.
  • Match Points Multiplier: Similar to the tournament points multiplier, this adjusts the points earned from individual matches within a tournament. Use this to give more weight to matches if needed.
  • Match Participation Points: Give players points for participating in each match within a tournament. This encourages ongoing engagement and rewards players for their efforts.
  • Last Tournaments Count: Limit the race to consider only a certain number of recent tournaments. This keeps the competition fresh and exciting, allowing new players to catch up and compete.

Benefits of using a race

Adding a race to your tournaments can significantly enhance player engagement and competition. Here’s how:

  • Increased Participation: Offering points for participation encourages more players to join and stay active in tournaments.
  • Balanced Competition: By awarding points for both wins and participation, you create a more inclusive competition where players of all skill levels can feel motivated.
  • Ongoing Excitement: Limiting the race to recent tournaments keeps the leaderboard dynamic, giving new players a chance to compete and preventing early leaders from becoming unbeatable.

By understanding and utilizing the race feature, you can create a more engaging and competitive environment for your players. If you have any questions or need further assistance, our support team is here to help!
