How Leaderboards Work

Leaderboards are an essential feature in any competitive tournament, providing a clear way to track and display player rankings. Here’s a detailed guide on how leaderboards operate within our system, ensuring you understand the mechanics and can set them up effectively for your tournaments.

Scoring and sorting

The method for determining the top player in a tournament depends on your chosen scoring and sorting settings. Here’s how they work:

  • Descending Sorting: If you choose "descending" in the scores sort option, players need to accumulate as many points as possible. The player with the highest score wins.

  • Ascending Sorting: If you choose "ascending" in the scores sort option, players aim to get the lowest score. The player with the fewest points wins.

Game Points and Match Points

During a game set, players earn Game Points. Once the set is complete, these Game Points are compared based on the sorting criteria (ascending or descending). The winner of the set receives 1 Match Point (MP).
Tournament Points

At the end of the tournament, the system compares the total Match Points (MP) earned by each player. The player with the highest MP total is awarded 1 Tournament Point (TP), signifying their overall victory in the tournament. Other players receive 0 TP.

Handling Ties

What happens if multiple players end up with the same number of Match Points? In such cases, the system compares the players' Game Points to break the tie and determine the winner. Here’s a step-by-step breakdown:

  1. Players Earn Game Points: Throughout the sets, players accumulate Game Points.

  2. Match Points are Assigned: After each set, based on Game Points and sorting criteria, players earn Match Points.

  3. Tournament Points Determined: At the end of the tournament, the player with the most Match Points receives 1 Tournament Point.

  4. Breaking Ties: If players have the same number of Match Points, their total Game Points are compared to determine the overall winner.

By understanding these mechanics, you can set up and manage your tournaments more effectively, ensuring fair play and clear rankings. If you have any further questions or need assistance with specific settings, feel free to reach out to our support team. We’re here to help!
