ELO is a player's rating, for each match the ELO rating can increase or decrease depending on the result. Initially, when registering a player, ELO is set to 1500. The better the player plays, the higher his ELO.
Some tournaments may use ELO to match against each other, in this case, stronger players with a high ELO will play each other from the first matches.
